Bronx woman got $115,000 in illegal benefits when she didn't report husband's income: authorities

Investigators found that from January 2006 to April 2012, Lizette Cuadrado submitted false benefit applications to the New York City Human Resources Administration, failing to report that she lived with her spouse, who was earning an income.

A Bronx woman was arrested Friday after she illegally obtained $57,563 from Medicaid, $33,057 in Temporary Assistance cash benefits, and $24,818 in federal food aid, officials said.

A Bronx woman was charged with illegally obtaining more than $115,000 in public benefits by failing to report her husband’s income, authorities said.

Investigators found that from January 2006 to April 2012, Lizette Cuadrado submitted false benefit applications to the New York City Human Resources Administration.

In the submissions, Cuadrado, 47, failed to disclose that she lived with her spouse, who was earning an income.

She obtained $57,563 from Medicaid, $33,057 in Temporary Assistance cash benefits, and $24,818 in federal food aid, officials said.

She was arrested Friday and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors. If convicted, she could face up to 15 years in prison.
